Wedding Stationery Process

Getting Started 
The process starts when you submit your inquiry on the Contact page. Tell me about what you're looking for and I'll reply with more information. Then I'll create a personalized price quote according to your needs. 

Pricing 
Download the pdf here for price sheets and more information on wedding orders. Pricing depends on quantity, printing technique, and the items you order in your suite. You can pick and choose the stationery items you need.

Contract + Deposit
Once you've accepted the personalized quote, I require 50% of the estimated total as a deposit. A contract outlining my terms and services must be signed. Contracts and invoices are made online through email. After receiving your deposit, we can begin the design phase. Yay!
A final invoice will be emailed to you when all designs are finalized. Your completed order will ship after the final balance has been received.

Design Phase
I email you the designed pieces to review as pdf files. Any changes from you will be applied and I will send you another round of your wedding suite to review. Any final changes can be made at this time and your approval must be given before the printing phase. No changes can be made after your final approval has been given, so please proofread carefully.


Design + Details

Custom Design
These days couples have become more creative with their weddings to capture their unique relationship and personal style. Whether it's traditional with a twist, vintage inspired, laid back casual, or modern and edgy – Harken Press can create the perfect wedding suite that will reflect your personality. The custom design fee is $200 in addition to the listing prices. 

Pre-designed Templates
Harken Press has a library of pre-designed wedding suites that are ready to go. All you have to do is pick which suite best fits your wedding and I customize the design with your wedding information and colors. Look through the Wedding gallery now.

Customization
It's always free to change the wording and ink colors of any pre-designed wedding invitation template. You can also customize paper and envelope options, see the Harken Press house stock pdf. Other options are available, but may require a specialty paper fee. 

Printing
Letterpress printing is a popular choice for wedding stationery, because it adds a level of luxury and detail. Each piece of paper is fed into the press by hand and printed one at a time, then the inked design is imprinted into the paper, creating an impression that you can feel. Digital or Flat printing is when your design is flat and smooth on the paper without any texture.
Mix n’ Match printing techniques. It’s very common for couples to choose letterpress printing for some of their wedding suite pieces and digital printing for others according to their budget. I’m here to help you make it work!
Prices vary depending on the printing technique. 

Estimated Timing
I always ask what your idea "mail out" date is and try to accommodate your wedding planning schedule. 
Letterpress printing & shipping – 5 to 6 weeks
Digital printing & shipping – 4 to 5 weeks
Availability does fluctuate depending on the season, don't hesitate to ask about timing.

Custom Design Process

STEP 1: Inspiration
You send me a description of your style. Then you can send me any inspiration images or links of invitation examples you like. Clients often send me an invite to their Pinterest board. The purpose is for me to visually understand you're style and what you're looking for so the design is cohesive with everything else in your wedding. 

Then you fill out my online Initial Wedding Stationery Questionnaire with your wording for each stationery item, paper choice, envelope choice, etc. You can always adjust the wording during the design phase, if needed. 

STEP 2: Initial Design Comps
I start by designing 2-3 rough invitation designs for you to review and give feedback. These are not finished designs, but concepts to see what you're liking. You'd then respond with feedback about what you're liking and disliking. We decide to move forward with one concept in particular. 

STEP 3: Refining Design
I expand on the chosen design – continue refining, adding details, explore ink color options, etc. The design is applies to all stationery items in your suite, like Reply Card, Guest Info Card, etc. We go back and forth with rounds of designs until it's perfect! 

STEP 4: Finalize Design
I send you a pdf of your wedding invitation suite with all the stationery items included, so you can review everything and see how all the items look together. You must give final approval on all designs before any printing can be done. No changes can be made once you give your final approval.
