About the Press

Letterpress is printing technique where the design is imprinted into the paper creating a texture that you can see and feel. The design is transferred onto a printing plate, then the press is typeset, inked and operated by hand. It's a labor and time intensive process that's well suited for wedding invitations and fine stationery products.

Harken Press uses a 10 x 15 Heidelberg windmill press from 1956. It's been fully restored and prints beautifully. The press is over 3,000 lbs and is lovingly referred to as "The Beast".
