Download your free guiding word for 2018
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! It’s that time again to pick your one guiding word for the new year.
My blog post last year about setting your intention for the year and providing free customized digital wallpapers had such a great response, so I’m doing it again this year! You can use the wallpaper on your computer, phone, or tablet, to serve as a reminder of your intention. This free limited time offer ends January 31st at midnight.
The "One Word" concept
If the “One Word” concept is new to you, here’s the gist. Instead of making a New Year’s resolution like, working out more or read more books – you choose a word for the year that acts as an overall statement for all the goals and desires you’d like to achieve in 2018.
Reflecting on 2017
My words last year were listen and abundance. I wanted to listen to my inner-self more and have a mindset of more abundance. I felt strongly pulled to both words, so I had two for 2017.
I started meditating again and learning more about soulful topics I’ve been interested in. Usually this means meditating in the morning before I start working and listening to an audiobook while I’m working. The abundance intention has been more difficult. In general, I have gotten much better at stopping negative thoughts and replacing it with positivity and praise. I know it sounds strange to praise myself, but sometimes I suffer from creative hangovers where I catch myself thinking, “Why would anyone buy this? Am I even good at this? What am I doing?!”
I realized I’ll never achieve the large scale goals I desire unless I actually believe I deserve them! It’s a work-in-progress, but I feel improvement. Baby steps.
My one word for 2018… make that two words
This year I’m feeling drawn to the words share and explore. Again I’m having trouble picking just one, so I’ll have two.
There’s no rules here, no one is going to check your homework, so feel free to do what’s best for YOU.
Share is for my desire to literally share more of myself with the world. I’ve found there’s a delicate balance for me between oversharing and isolating myself. I tend to flip flop between the two extremes. I’d like to find some balance in sharing my work, my experiences, my thoughts, my personal life and not feeling totally exposed and vulnerable. I tend to think “Why would anyone care what I have to say about XYZ”, but every time I’ve shared something on my blog or social media that felt scary but important, the response was positive. Real connections are made with real people and it feels good. So I'm following that good feeling.
Explore has to do with all the upcoming changes for me and my family in 2018. I’ll announce more soon, but this year is going to have lots of physical and geographical changes. I want to dive in and explore all that’s new around me. I’m excited to mix it up. Change can be very energizing, so I’m hoping to ride that wave. There should be plenty of opportunities to explore, so I’m taking the lead from my toddler. One of her favorite words is “Wow!” She sees the world with wonder because everything is fascinating and new. If I can get just a little of that excitement while I’m exploring, it will be a great year.
